NOSE SURGERY
Operation: This procedure is used to reshape
the nose by reducing or increasing size, removing hump,
changing shape of tip or bridge, narrowing span of nostrils,
or changing angle between nose and upper lip. This procedure
can also relieve some breathing problems which may be covered
by insurance.
Operation Time (estimate): Surgical operating
time takes 1 to 2 hours or more.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: General anesthesia
or local with sedation will be used.
Location: This is usually an outpatient
procedure.
Side effects (Possible): Some patients
may experience temporary swelling, bruising around eyes
and nose, and headaches. Patients may also experience some
bleeding and stiffness.
Complications (Possible): Examples of possible
complications are infections, small burst blood vessels
resulting in tiny, permanent red spots, and incomplete improvement
that may require additional surgery.
Downtime: Patients may go back to work
in 1 to 2 weeks and participate in more strenuous activities
in 2 to 3 weeks. Patients are to avoid hitting their nose
or to get a sunburn for 8 weeks. Patients can see final
results in about a year.
Duration of Results: Results are permanent.
