COLLAGEN / FAT INJECTIONS
Operation: The two most common forms of collagen are Zyplast and Restylane. Zyplast is a highly purified animal based collagen and Restylane is a non-animal based collagen. They are both used to plump up creased, furrowed, or sunken facial lines as well as add fullness to lips and smile lines.
Operation Time (estimate): This procedure takes 15 minutes to 1 hour per session.
Anesthesia/Pain Control: For the Restylane a topical anesthetic is used.
Location: This is an outpatient procedure that requires no downtime.
Side effects (Possible): During this procedure you may experience temporary stinging, throbbing, or burning sensation. As well as faint redness, swelling, or excess fullness.
Complications (Possible): Contour irregularities or infection are possible for both forms of collagen. Possible complications for the Zyplast include allergic reactions such as rashes, hives, swelling, or flu-like symptoms. There may be a possible triggering of connective tissue or autoimmune diseases. This is why a skin test is required before treatment for this form of collagen. Restylane does not require a skin test.
Duration of Results: Results vary from a few months to 1 year.
